Oh my gosh, I have been so overwhelmed lately and considering buying a canoe if this rain doesn't stop soon. I've been trying to get a million things done before we go to Comicon in Denver next weekend. I officially finished my Unicorn Race 3 days ahead of my goal and I'll show you all the awesome medal as soon as it comes in the mail. My friend and I have been working really hard to support each other in making healthier choices for ourselves, and the next evolution is Weight Watchers. I was very skeptical at first, but she persisted and so I decided to do a 3 month trial at a discount. I'm totally sold.
My Lose It ap was fantastic at the time I needed it, but every since surgery almost a year ago, I've struggled more than ever to be healthy. The WW app really makes me think not just about calories, but also about the nutritional value of the things I'm putting in my face hole. Points are calculated by little magic fairies based on sugar, fat, saturated fat, and protein, so the more fatty/sugary a food is, the higher the point value. It means that I can eat anything I want, I just have to ask myself how bad I want it. After the first week of using the app, I've lost 5 pounds. Now, I must be honest and say that when I weighed myself to start this, I was coming off a weekend of eating all the bad food I could find and drinking gratuitous amounts of Vodka, so the results were a little skewed. But it's not just the pounds lost that make me love this app, it's the community. I posted a little hello picture and something about myself as per the suggestions, and I received a wave of overwhelming positive comments and virtual high fives. It was awesome. For me, having a support network, a tribe is so important. It keeps me accountable, it keeps me honest, it keeps me going. That's why I'm so grateful for all of you who read this blog and have supported me over the years. You guys rock! I have to also mention that I went to two days of water aerobics two weeks in a row! I took a rest week last week and only did water aerobics because my personal trainer was on vacation. Today, I'm going to the special water aerobics class even though it's a holiday and I have the day off work. I also joined another race with my friend. This one is something in the ballpark of 105 miles and goes through Romania virtually. I've set a goal to finish it in 30 days which is roughly 3.5 miles per day. Wish me luck! |
